Title:  You Go Girl!

Ages:  Entering Grades 4-5
Led By:  Jim DeLine (PE) and Dianna Morris (Teacher Assistant)
Price:  $255
You Go Girl! is a sports camp designed just for girls. According to the Women’s Sports Foundation girls who play sports do so for different reasons than boys. The research confirms that girls that are involved in sports do better in school, learn goal setting and teamwork skills, and build self-confidence. Unfortunately, by the time girls become adolescents, many quit playing and their overall levels of physical activity decline sharply. You Go Girl! will focus on skill development and game play in a variety of traditional team sports and non-traditional individual sports and activities. Traditional sports will include football, basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, and tennis. Non-traditional sports and activities will include an adventure course, archery, geo-caching, bowling, and rock climbing. Field trips will include Dart Bowl, Zip Lost Pines in Bastrop Texas (tentative), First Tee of Austin Golf, iFly Austin, and Austin Bouldering Project. Guest instructors will include former Highland Park Coach Nate Haynes now of University Professional Basketball.
