Title:  You Go Girl!
Ages:  Entering Grades 5-7
Led By:  Jim DeLine (PE) and Sarah Robenhorst (Teacher)
Price:  $425
You Go Girl! is a sports camp designed just for girls. According to the Women’s Sports Foundation girls who play sports do so for different reasons than boys. The research confirms that girls that are involved in sports and physical activities do better in school, learn goal setting and teamwork skills, and build self-confidence. Unfortunately, by the time girls become adolescents, many quit playing and their overall levels of physical activity decline sharply. You Go Girl! will focus on skill development and game play in a variety of traditional team sports and non-traditional individual sports and activities. Traditional sports will include football, basketball, volleyball, dance and tennis. Non-traditional sports and activities will include badminton, adventure course, archery, geo-caching, bowling, yoga, dance and rock climbing. Field trips scheduled are: Dart Bowl, Zip Lost Pines in Bastrop Texas (zip line adventure course), First Tee of Austin (golf), iFly Austin, Lache Movement Company (parkour, aerial arts, & gymnastics), Austin Bouldering Project (rock climbing), and Deep Eddy Pool (swimming). Guest instructors will include former Highland Park Coach Nate Haynes now of University Professional Basketball, Chi-Chi Randolph from Dance Studio Austin, and Ramon Salazar – Yoga.
